Internet Sales
By now it’s common knowledge that scuba websites and all industry websites offer discounted prices on the recommended retail price of your local dive shop.
It is no secret and no one is trying to hide that fact. But, there are some facts that you should consider next time you walk out of your local dive shop jump on the net and order the same scuba equipment you have just conveniently tried on after coming back from your social Sunday dive.
Let’s contemplate why the Internet is cheaper than your locally owned dive shop.
One
A webpage doesn’t have the costs of running a compressor to fill your tanks to be able to go for a dive.
Two
A webpage need not worry about the cost of fuel and maintenance of a dive boat to transport to your local dive spot.Three
It need not worry about paying wages to staff that guide you in the right direction, organize your dive trips and share your dive history every step of the way.
Four
A webpage doesn’t have to pay for instructors who continue to educate you in becoming a more competent and confident diver so you can advance your skills and enjoy your dives.
Five
A webpage doesn’t need to pay a service technician to maintain your diving equipment so you can dive safely with no incidents.
Six
A webpage doesn’t need floor space for a classroom, retail showroom, service department, washroom, and hire equipment so divers can come in and hire tanks, weights and anything else you have either forgotten or are being serviced.
Seven
And most importantly. Where will you go to dive, socialize and fill your tanks when your local dive shop has closed down?
Our economy can’t withstand our purchasing elsewhere forever when our money is being spent overseas. Our families and friends won’t be able to keep their job. I’m not just talking about the scuba industry I’m talking about every shop and corner store that has to compete with someone they can’t even see. “Buy your kids a job”
There are times when paying extra, pays off.
